Ligue One: PSG host lowly Amiens seeking 6th successive victory

PSG have gotten their mojo back and are once again winning games in style and with utmost comfort.

The Parisians who struggled at the start of the season have now won all their last five competitive games and four in the league.

It comes as no surprise that they enjoy a seven-point lead at the top of the standings and on course to yet another Ligue One triumph.

On Saturday night, the Parisians host Amiens in what looks to be a straight forward match.

Having won all their last home games minus conceding a goal, three points and a good showing is all that is expected of Tomas Tuchel’s side.

Neymar Jr was rested in the midweek 4-1 win away to Le Mans in the Coupe de la League and he should be fresh to team up with Mauro Icardi and Kylian Mbappe in attack.

Question marks still linger over Edinson Cavani who was not picked on Wednesday either despite not featuring regularly in the recent past.

Does Tomas Tuchel slot in the Uruguayan on Saturday or he continues to freeze him out?

The treatment room has also cleared in the recent past with only Presnel Kimpembe and Julian Draxler doubts for the game hance more selection headache for the German.

The one thing that is a certainty for Tuchel is that whoever is put out on the pitch is good enough to defeat an Amiens side that has never defeated PSG.

Amiens’ form does not help them either as they start the day in 17th, just a point away from the relegation playoff spot.

The 3-2 victory over Rennes in the Couple de la League was Amiens first in five competitive games, another testament to how poor they have been recently.

Amiens have also been poor against PSG as they have lost five of the six meetings, scoring in just one of those games.

Second-placed Marseille will also be in action at home to Nimes as they bid to keep up pace with PSG.

Andre Villas-Boaz’s side is one of the most in-form sides in Ligue One as they have won six of their past seven games.

The 1-1 draw away to Metz last weekend is the only time Marseille failed to win in that period.

They are now scoring goals and keeping clean-sheets at the other end and will be heavy favourites for all three points.

Nimes on the other hand are struggling currently and are on a four-game losing run in all competitions.

Just a point in their last six league games has seen them drop to second from bottom and if they can pull off what looks like an unlikely result at the Velodrome, it would be a massive boost to their confidence.

There is an interesting fixture in Stade da Luis II as Monaco takes on Lille. Lyon will also be in action away to Reims while fourth-placed Rennes hosts Bourdeaux.
